Yoga may be the answer!
Do you find yourself overwhelmed by anxious feelings? Anxiety can have a powerful physical effect on people. Some of the side effects are racing heartbeat, sweating, upset stomach, dizziness, head ache, or shortness of breath. These symptoms are often debilitating and can make it difficult or impossible to live a healthy and happy life. The good news is; there is help! While there are many traditional methods for treating anxiety, I would like to offer you an alternative solution.
Yoga counseling is a unique treatment method that offers all the benefits of traditional counseling and the benefits of yoga at once. A yoga practice can provide many techniques for focusing the mind, calming the body, and preventing anxiety attacks. Through yoga you can connect with yourself on a deeper level, allowing you to identify the root causes of your anxiety. Combining the healing aspects of yoga with the healing methods of traditional counseling we can build a treatment plan that is unique to you. Sessions will typically consist of 20 minutes of yoga, followed by 20-30 minutes of therapy and then 10-20 minutes of yoga. You should leave each session feeling renewed and armed with the tools you need to live the healthy and happy life you want.
If you are interested in exploring these concepts a bit from the comfort of your own home, here is a simple breathing exercise that can provide some relief from anxious feelings. Try this exercise when you are in a calm state of mind. Allow your eyes to drift close and place you hand over your heart. Begin to notice the rhythm of your heart and the feeling of your hand moving as you breathe. Gradually deepen your breath, breathing deep into your belly. Concentrate on this deep even breathing for several minutes. Repeat this exercise often throughout the day. Practice this exercise when you are feeling calm, so that you can use it when you are feeling anxious. Using this deep calm breathing practice when you become aware of anxious feelings should lessen your anxiety.
